Origin of the hotel
This establishment dates back all the way to 1915. It was the original pub in Lincoln and was known as the Perthshire Arms. It enjoyed a dedicated patronage and hosted many dinner parties and public meetings too. In 1885, the original wooden hotel was reconstructed with concrete replacing the wooden structure. Moreover, it was aptly renamed the Lincoln Hotel. The wooden section left over was burned down in 1889 leaving only the concrete structure standing.
On 4th September 2010, the hotel suffered the devastating effects of an earthquake. With cracks all over and a collapsed chimney, the building was condemned and had to be demolished. A fresh redesign and construction initiative was started by its management. Soon after, a new establishment was constructed on the site and renamed the Famous Grouse Hotel. Today, it provides a range of amenities to guests with a heritage spanning more than a century.
