The Galbraith’s Alehouse is a bar located at 2 Mount Eden Rd, Eden Terrace, Auckland, New Zealand. Keith Galbraith who had a strong desire to introduce quality ales to the people of New Zealand originally opened the bar way back in 1995.

It is a traditional British themed bar that serves unique European inspired ales that have been handcrafted using authentic natural ingredients. The interior of the building is really nice with large communal tables, an awesome back patio covered in hops, and the working brewery is located right inside the building when you walk in.

The Galbraith’s Alehouse has a fantastic selection of foods that have been handmade from scratch using ingredients from their organic garden located at the back of the bar and also getting others from New Zealand’s top-end suppliers. Meals are made with care and class by their talented chefs.

The beer snacks include fried spicy buffalo wings, arancini risotto balls, shiitake and water chestnuts wontons, crispy salt n pepper squid, house roasted nuts, soup, and chips.

The pub classics is one of the favored menus and includes classic meals such as the classic beef burger, bangers n mash, fish n chips, savannah bavette steak, the must try Galbraith’s Sunday roast, beetroots n goats cheese salad, Harmony Taupo butler’s steak, and the popular vegetarian Thai green curry.

The sides include creamy potato mash, dressed leaves, and broccolini. There are two main desserts served which are berry and elderflower jelly and warm chocolate brownie.

There is also a small plates menu for children that features foods such as citrus brined charred chicken, braised beef short rib, Moroccan chickpea n date ragout, Szechuan roasted pork belly, and line caught market fish is always great.

For beverages, the Galbraith’s Alehouse has an impressive list of ales available. Their ales are made with the finest quality English malt, noble English variety hops, and unique strains of classic yale yeast. All of their ales contain no sugars or preservatives and are not filtered or pasteurized in order to retain as much flavor as possible.

The beer list includes the Bob Hudson’s bitter (cask), bitter and twisted (cask), bellringers best bitter (cask), the must try Antopdean New Zealand Amber Ale, German-style lager, a super Bohemian Pilsner, New Zealand pale ale, Euro lager, and Galbraith’s yes paddy cream stout (cask).

On deck, you can be served with several beers such as the roggenbier, citrus circus (sour ale), Amanecer Mexicano (sour gose), India pale lager, modern Belgian witbier, New Zealand pale ale, Kingsland Pilsner, and the must try Finnieston chocolate porter.

The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the beers they brew. They will even take the extra time to explain any questions you may have concerning their ale or the brewing process and are more than willing to help you in any way.

Once you enter the building, you’ll feel a calming and relaxing atmosphere inside at the large communal tables, an amazing back patio for those afternoon sessions, and the brewery surround you in pure style. There beer garden is the place to be with the kids in almost any New Zealand weather conditions.
