Located at 5-7 McKillop Street, Porirua, the club provides ample amenities for tantalizing dishes and refreshing drinks too. It has been operational for over 5 decades and was established to assist returned personnel with recreational needs and welfare. Over the years, it has welcomed other members and grown into a community.

The club has more than 870 members all enthusiastic about taking care of senior members. Junior membership begins at age 13 while senior membership begins at age 18. Being a family-friendly establishment, kids are allowed to stay until 7.00pm under the supervision of their parents or guardians.

Special sections

The club has some special sections. They include the Kings Empire Veterans (K.E.V.) and the Kapa Haka. The K.E.V. was formed in the 19th century in Britain to cater for servicemen returning from conflict. It was brought by the British into New Zealand and this club has maintained the tradition. The Kapa Haka is a community of tribes in the club membership that observe Maori traditions and present the Haka dance during club events which is a must see experience.

Functions and event hosting

You can hold your private event at the Porirua RSA. This is done at the versatile dining room. It is converted into a conference room with a capacity of between 20 and 25 people. Upon booking, you get a white-board, 42 inch flat screen TV, music system, Audio Visual system and microphones too. If you have a big event, it can be held in the Governor’s Lounge. It is larger and has a capacity of between 40 and 45 people. The Poppies Restaurant can cater to your event by providing a range of buffet, finger food and platter menus.
