Affectionately referred to as ‘the Citz’, Tauranga Citizens Club is a warm, welcoming establishment. Ready to host members, guests and visitors to Tauranga, the club has a collection of comforting amenities on offer of restaurants, social clubs, sports amenities, bars and a pokies gaming lounge. Located at 170 Thirteenth Ave, Tauranga, it is part of the Chartered Clubs of New Zealand. As such, affiliate members are welcome here and get to retain their members rights just as they would in their home clubs.

With a large membership, there is always something exciting occurring at the club. Here, you can experience amenities such as the restaurant located upstairs, bistro, gaming facilities, social activities and event hosting.

The Citz Restaurant

This is the main eatery at the club. Here, members and guests can enjoy a meal. The menu is extensive and contains dishes from New Zealand and beyond. Furthermore, you can find blackboard specials every night. The menu is divided into a number of sections. They include the entrées, starters, mains, desserts and children’s menu.

Guests can find dishes such as chicken strips, delish BBQ pork ribs, south island salmon, surf n turf, 250gm sirloin steak and ice cream sundaes of just a few items off the menu. The dessert and kids’ menus change regularly. Catering to visitors also, the Citz Restaurant is open from 5.30pm until late from Wednesday to Saturday. Should you want to dine with a group, it is always advisable that you make a booking by calling 07 578 7023. Tip – make sure you try Tauranga’s best lamb shank in the restaurant – it’s just awesome.

The Bistro

Guests in search of a simple bite can visit the Bistro area. Close to the bar section, it serves dishes such as nachos, wedges, shrimp cocktail and the hawaiian burger. You can take your food away with you if you so wish. Tip – make sure you try the Thai beef salad as it’s super yummy.

Member social activities and games

For leisure purposes, members of the Tauranga Citizens Club can participate in a variety of games and social activities. They include darts, euchre, golf, Texas Hold’Em Poker and indoor bowls. There are also some social activities such as the 500 club and the 55 plus sports.

About the Tauranga Citizens Club

Located only a few minutes from the Central Business District (CBD), the club is also a short distance form the marina and Tauranga port. As such, it is easily accessible by private car or using public transport. The area is well known to have beautiful beaches and warm weather. Therefore, it attracts tourists to the beaches. The club is often a refreshment and dining center for the visitors. Furthermore, a range of fresh fruits are served within. That’s because the club is firmly planted in the country’s fruit basket.

Membership details

To enjoy the amenities within Tauranga Citizens Club with no limitations, you can join it. If you are above the age of 18 years, you can apply to become an ordinary member. The club provides an application form in their website. You can simply download it, fill it in and submit the form to the club offices. This begins the process of joining the club.

Membership at the club costs $35. This includes a nomination fee of $10 and an annual membership fee of $25 for ordinary members. Those between the ages of 12 and 18 can also apply to become junior members. They are required to pay an annual fee of $10.

Upon acceptance into the club, you are issued with a membership card. Among other regulations, members have to follow a strict dress code. The details of this are indicated in the website. Furthermore, they are shared upon induction into the club.
