Vultures Lane Auckland Review

Vultures Lane is a must visit bar and restaurant located at 10 Vulcan Lane, Auckland, 1010, New Zealand. The venue is situated among the hustle and bustle of shops on Vulcan Lane.

It is home to some of the best beers in Auckland with over 75 different beers in the fridge and 22 regular rotating taps to quench everyone’s thirst what more could one want, well maybe some of the awesome food of course.

The name ‘Vultures’ came from the title that Vulcan Lane was given in the 1920’s due to the uninviting characters such as streetwalkers, journalists, and sailors who used to gather there back in the good old day’s.

Amenities and Events

Since Vultures Lane underwent a transformation in 2013, very little has changed inside the inner city pub with the exception of upgraded taps, some new signage at the front, and the addition of craft beer equipment on the walls. It still manages to retain a homey English pub feel with a withered and dark presence that appeals mostly to male clients who go for the beer of course. The upper and lower floors are mostly occupied by bulky wooden furniture that gives people at the bar enough room to find a seat or place their beers.

There are several events hosted at the pub every once or two weeks. The most recent one was the ‘Northern Tap-Out’ event which was held on June 29 where there were 5 taps of core range beers from three distinct breweries namely. The Sawmill Brewery, McLeod’s Brewery, and 8 Wired Brewing and also featured other specially brewed beers for attendees.

Summary

The Vultures Lane pub is definitely one of the few places in Auckland where you’d enjoy taking a cold one with mates as you unwind after a day of hard work. Even though the premises can seem somewhat small, it is still quite cozy and there is also a lower area that can accommodate more people. The food is very good and there are great beer selections every week which make this pub worth visiting just for the beer alone.
