The bistro serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with most of the dishes in the menu having being handpicked by the locals. The prices are very pocket friendly making it an ideal family eating joint. The bar, which also doubles up as a sports bar, has 2 large screens to show all the big games, 2 darts boards and a pool table with Free Pool Sunday every week. Bridie’s Bar and Bistro also has a jukebox for all the lovers of music.

The Food and Drinks of Note

At Bridie’s, breakfast is as simple as they come. They serve old fashioned French toast served with roasted banana, pancakes served with streaky bacon and roasted banana too, rolled oats porridge cooked in cream with a dash of cinnamon and lastly, the Big Breakfast which includes sausage, bacon, hash browns, spinach, mushroom, egg and toast – breakfast fit for a king.

The dinner menu has a snack section that serves snacks such as Nachos and fries till late. They serve pizza with a gluten free option and can also be ordered as a takeaway with two out of the five options being delish vegetarian pizzas. The Lamb shanks are great value at just $15.00! You will find sandwiches, pies and salads in the light meals section, which also has an Irish Stew at just $10.00 which is a classic lamb and veg stew served with toasted ciabatta – yummy 🙂

The Bridie’s Lasagne at just $11.00 gets our best pasta dish in Christchurch award – you gotta try this with a nice NZ red wine. You can’t make this at home for less bucks.

The mains menu contains meals most of them roasts, and burgers such as bacon cheese burger, pork ribs and chicken fillet. Most of the meals are served with chips and a sauce and a side salad. The kids’ menu has only two items, a kids cheese burger and chicken nuggets all served with chips. Sides come at an extra cost. Desserts consist of an apple crumble, a cheesecake, meringue and ice cream sundaes.

At Bridie’s and Bistro their alcoholic drinks consist of some great beers and wines. They serve tap beer in two ways, either in a pint or in a jug. They have a wine collection sourced from different parts of the world like Prosecco from Italy, red wines from Australia, Champagnes from France and Ports from Portugal. The white wine in their list is exclusively sourced from Nelson in New Zealand.

The coffee section has espresso drinks like cappuccino and americano, with the exception of non-caffeinated drinks such as hot chocolate and chai latte. Cold drinks served at Bridie’s include fresh fruit juices, iced coffee and chocolate, smoothies and soft drinks.

Being more of a sports bar and grill, Bridie’s Bar and Bistro has a limited capability to host functions. However, should you want to host a small party, you can make a booking by calling the restaurant any day from 8 am to 11 pm and someone will assist you with your query.
